Fargo, North Dakota โ€“ Eastern North Dakota residents should prepare for severe thunderstorms striking between 3 and 8 p.m. Monday, as hail reaching up to 1.5 inches and wind gusts exceeding 60 mph will disrupt travel and outdoor activities.

The National Weather Service in Grand Forks reports that an upper-level low will move southeast toward Pembina, sparking scattered thunderstorms this afternoon. These storms may turn severe, especially in areas including Fargo, Grand Forks, Valley City, and Devils Lake, where forecasters have issued a Level 2 risk.

The most dangerous threats include destructive winds that can topple trees and power lines, along with hail large enough to dent vehicles or destroy crops. Although tornado risk remains low, storm cells may strengthen quickly, making it essential for residents to stay vigilant.

Motorists should postpone travel during peak storm hours and secure any outdoor items. Keep weather radios active or enable phone alerts while preparing for potential power outages.

The storms will likely subside after 8 p.m., though the NWS may release additional advisories as the system continues its southeastern path.
