Luis Angel Martinez Gomez, 24, of Santa Ana, was detained last week as he was leaving the Central Justice Center for selling narcotics in Irvine and violating his probation, according to the Irvine Police Department.
This is his second arrest for narcotics sales since May. He was taken a short distance to the Orange County Jail, where he was booked again.
If you sell narcotics in Irvine, the IPD Specialized Investigations Unit (SIU) may arrest you.
Luis Angel Martinez Gomez was prosecuted under California Health and Safety Code §11351 for possessing a controlled drug for sale. This is a criminal offense.
Penalties he may face:
- 2 to 4 years in county jail
- Fines up to $20,000
- Probation revocation, which could add more jail time
Sentence enhancements due to:
-
Prior drug sales convictions
-
Being on probation at the time of arrest
-
Possible large quantities of drugs involved
Given his previous convictions and probation breach, he is likely to receive a stiffer sentence than a first-time offender.
