Tyler Shows, a former Petal teacher accused of several sex crimes against children, died unexpectedly on Tuesday.
Forrest County Coroner Lisa Klem confirmed Shows’ death on Tuesday afternoon.
According to a press statement from the Petal Police Department, a neighbor heard a gunshot and discovered a man lying on a home’s back porch shortly after noon.
Petal Police Chief Matthew Hiatt stated in the announcement that “officers observed a white male, later identified as Tyler Shows, deceased from what appeared to be a single self-inflicted gunshot wound.”
Shows was scheduled to stand trial later this year on allegations of child exploitation, lustful touching of a minor, and distribution of sexually explicit material to a minor.
He was out on bond for these offenses.
