Officers placed on IISD campuses
Ingleside City Council members unanimously approved action to post police officers on Ingleside Independent School District (IISD) campuses, at a regular term meeting last week. Since the Florida school shootings, bomb and shooting threats have been made to local school campuses.
As a result, best options for extra safety measures were presented by Police Chief Kenneth Jenks to the council.
Council members voiced concerns about the local threats.
City Council Member Ronnie Parker said, “There have been two to three bomb threats and shooting schools up. I think it is a good idea to protect our children. We don’t want our budget cuts to not protect our children.”
