Maurice Sample, age 30 shown in a booking photo Friday, May 12, was arrested by U.S. Marshal’s in Maryland, accused of allegedly murdering two men in Aransas Pass last week, both victims, authorities revealed, worked with him at a Port Aransas restaurant.

Monday, May 8, the San Patricio County Sheriff’s Office located the bodies of two Aransas Pass men inside this Nissan Armada SUV in a field along FM 2725, near the Moose Lodge and the Union Pacific Railroad Crossing. Both had been shot, some time in the early morning hours that day, already dead by the time they were discovered by deputies.

Surveillance cameras along the exterior roofline of the Moose Lodge may have recorded key pieces of evidence in the murder investigation.

A good portion of FM 2725 was blocked off to traffic May 8 while crime scene investigators searched for clues into the double homicide. Both victims, according to Sheriff Oscar Rivera, worked for Roosevelt’s Restaurant at the Tarpon Inn, the clothes they had on at the time offering that important
detail.
