Nearly 30 People Shot During Weekend In Mayor Brandon Johnson’s Chicago

Over the weekend, at least 28 individuals were shot, six of them fatally, in Mayor Brandon Johnson’s (D) Chicago.

The first shooting fatality was discovered just before 1:00 a.m. Friday in “the 7500 block of S. St. Lawrence,” according to ABC 7. A woman and a man were both shot; the man survived, but the woman died from her injuries.

The weekend’s second deadly shooting happened around 10:00 p.m. on Friday “in the 2800 Block of W. Arthington Avenue.” Someone fired a gun at a 22-year-old male who was standing outside. He was taken to the hospital, where he died of his injuries.

Seventeen-year-old Isriael Dixon was shot many times Friday night and died shortly after 10:00 p.m.

An unidentified attacker shot a 24-year-old man in a South Side strip mall on 87th Street near Lafayette Avenue shortly before midnight on Saturday. He was one of three people wounded in the incident and died at the hospital.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, a man was shot and killed “around 10:55 p.m. in the 2000 block of East 68th Street” on Saturday. There was no more information revealed about the incident or the man’s death.

So far in 2025, over 220 people have been slain in Chicago.
