Mustangs fall to Hidalgo in three-game bi-district series
The Ingleside High School varsity Mustang baseball team ended their season with a tough loss in a bi-district, three-game series to Hidalgo.
Head Coach Ronnie Jonse said, “ Our boys played extremely hard in games one and two, and battled through a lot of adversity. It felt like we couldn’t get a break the whole series.”
He emphasized, “There was a lot to be proud of,” in reference to the team’s season.
The Mustangs opened the series Wednesday, May 1, with a 2-1 win over Hidalgo, in a game at Hebbronville. The Pirates scored first, one run in the top of the fourth inning to take the early lead.
Ingleside scored one run in the bottom of the seventh inning to tie the game at the end of regulation. In the eighth inning, the Mustangs held Hidalgo scoreless in the top half of the inning, and scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of that inning for the victory
