Locals attend TRTA convention
Members of the San Patricio County Retired School Personnel who attended the 65th Annual Texas Retired Teacher’s Association (TRTA) Convention as a District or Local Delegate are: Paula Stone, Ruth Kramer, Diane Brady, Patricia Branch, Perla Guerrero, and Elizabeth Mokry. This year’s theme, “Preserving the Past; Securing the Future,” focused on maintaining and improving Texas public education retirees’ hard-earned benefits, such as health care and the pension fund. Nearly 1,000 retirees and guests attended the convention held in San Antonio. TRTA is the nation’s largest organization of public education retirees. It advocates improved benefits for current and retired public education employees, and seeks to advance their well-being through community involvement and legislative efforts. TRTA hosts an array of community engagement programs, including the Children’s Book Project, which has delivered nearly half a million books into the hands of young Texans.
