A California inmate with ties to Mississippi has been discovered dead at the Los Angeles County Jail.
Sam Haskell IV, 37, was awaiting trial on triple murder allegations.
He is the son of Mary Donnelly Haskell, a former Miss Mississippi, and Sam Haskell III, the previous CEO of the Miss America Organization.
He was set to appear in court on Monday, charged with murdering his wife and her parents in November 2023.
Prosecutors claimed Haskell dismembered their bodies and disposed of the remains in a dumpster.
The investigation began when a woman’s torso was discovered in a trash bin behind a Los Angeles shopping mall.
