Ingleside Mustangs blanked by RFHS Pirates
The Ingleside High School varsity Mustang football team struggled throughout the night Friday, Sept. 22, against the Rockport-Fulton High School Pirates who held them scoreless in a 29-0 victory.
It was a tight game in the first half, as RFHS managed a five-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, but did not get into the end zone the remainder of the half. The Mustangs trailed 7-0 at halftime.
Mustang quarterback Luke Snyder connected with Tanner Burgess for a 50-yard reception in the first quarter, for the lone offensive highlight in the first half. Defensive highlights in the first half came from Paiton Teall and Gilbert Canales. In the first quarter, Teall sacked the RF quarterback and caused the ball to come loose which was recovered by the Mustangs. Canales caused a fumble after a receiver connected with a pass, and the Mustangs took possession.
In the second half, the Pirates came out and scored two touchdowns in the third quarter, and one in the fourth while keeping Ingleside out of the end zone.
Offensive highlights were a 19-yard run by Robert Eppard and a 19-yard scamper by Sndyer, both in the third quarter.
Mustang quarterback Luke Snyder completed 66 yards passing on 15 attempts, and also recorded 40 yards rushing on six attempts. Eppard recorded 47 yards rushing in seven attempts. Teal with 11 yards in three receptions.
The Mustangs face Goliad Friday, Sept. 29, at Tuloso Midway in what was supposed to be a home game. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m.
