Free SAT offered for affected area students
As the Coastal Bend continues to recover from Hurricane Harvey, there is good news for students planning to take the SAT exam this fall. The College Board, which administers the exam, is offering free October SAT registration to students affected by Hurricane Harvey.
Officials at The College Board said, “We recognize this is an incredibly challenging time as you work to recover from the storm. We are taking this step to support students and families who are struggling as a result of the hurricane.”
The free October SAT registration and CSS Profile fee waiver are for students who are experiencing hardship and/or displacement due to the hurricane and are in an area designated by FEMA. Students who are registered for the October SAT should call Customer Service to receive a refund of their registration and late fee. Students can register and contact Customer Service through September 27. To reach SAT Customer Service, please call 866.756.7346.
For the CSS Profile fee waiver, students should go to cssprofile.org, complete their application, and the system will automatically apply eligibility rules. To reach CSS Profile Customer Service, please call 844.202.0524.
“We hope this measure can ease some worry for students and help their college-going plans proceed as smoothly as possible. Our thoughts are with those affected by the recent hurricanes, and we hope for the safety of people in the affected areas. We will continue to update this page with information about additional supports.”
