Firefighters promote Pride Day

Firefighters went to extreme heights to draw attendance at N.O. Simmons park for Hometown Pride Day recently as they pulled out the big ladder truck and also gave youngsters some hands-on experience in manning the powerful water hose used to extinguish fires. Spectators also watched firefighters Austin Martin and Bill Barringer wave from a bucket atop the ladder as they were raised to the bucket’s highest point, 100 feet in the air. The event also signaled the debut of the annual summer movie program held July through August. Twice a month during that time, a movie will be shown at the park.
