Donald G. Abels
Donald G. Ables passed away Dec. 8, 2017 at his son’s home in Victoria. He was 80. Don was born in Tahoka, Texas on Jan. 30, 1937. He was retired from his job of many years at Southwestern Public Service and was a resident of Aransas Pass since 2014. He had roots in Brownwood for 20 years and lived previously in Hobbs, NM for 32 years. He was heartbroken by the loss of his beautiful wife Vina Lou in October of 2016 after 58 years of marriage and lived this last year missing her. He was predeceased by this parents Woodrow and Dot Ables and his brother Jimmy. Survivors include his son Mykle Ables (Pam) of Victoria, TX/Kenai, AK; daughters, Denita Crow (Tim) of Rockport, and Lisa Johnson (Jason) of Portland, Texas; his brother Michael Ables; sisters, Janice Rosson and Wanda Long; grandchildren, Don Lott, April Crow, Destiny Ables, Levi Ables, and Jude Johnson; and great-grandchildren, Kyler Pearson, Layla Pearson, Ian Martin, and Asher Lott. Don was not much on ceremony and loved a good picnic. His children will host a Celebration of Life in his honor at 11 a.m. on Feb. 17, 2018 at the Blue Wave Pavilion on Rockport Beach in Rockport. There will be music, games, food and stories. We would like to extend a special thank you to Harbor Hospice of Victoria, and Brookdale Northshore Hospice in Portland, TX for their care of Don and his family as he journeyed home.
