K. Krosby, a 38-year-old Texas mother, has been charged with one count of felony injury to a child, according to court records. Deputies detained her earlier this month on suspicions that she purposefully smashed her child’s head into a wall as punishment.
The investigation began last month, when a Child Protective Services investigator noticed bruises and swelling near the child’s eyes. According to the arrest document, when asked what happened, the girl reportedly stated that her mother did that to her, which caused her great pain. She reported how the defendant placed her in timeout before grabbing her by the hair and slamming her head into the wall, resulting in a swollen black eye.
When Texas officials confronted the parent, she admitted to the activity and even demonstrated it exactly as the child had stated. According to the affidavit, when she learned that her behavior had been labeled as child abuse, she said, “What? I cannot do that?”
On June 26, investigators interrogated the victim and her siblings again. During the interrogation, the children stated that their mother directed them to inform Iie that the victim’s injuries were caused by falling on a block.
The victim was perplexed and inquired whether she was supposed to say she tripped on a brick, as her mother instructed, or that she banged her head on the tin outside, referring to contradictory directions reportedly supplied by the mother’s boyfriend.
The next day, at a CPS meeting, the mother requested that the investigator question the girls again in her presence. She stated that the youngsters would all deny that she did anything, attempting to persuade them to rescind their comments.
Based on the interviews and testimonies, Texas authorities charged the mother with felony child injury. She was put into county jail with a $125,000 bond and released the next day. It is unknown whether the children are still in her custody.
Throughout the investigation, the victim’s own comments were critical to determining abuse. The child’s plain description of how the parent grabbed her hair and slammed her head into the wall indicated that the damage was purposeful.
The child informed the investigator that when someone in their household becomes furious, people are punched, noses are broken, black eyes are prevalent, and heads are slammed into doors.
