Mexican Teen Sentenced 12 Months In Prison For Assaulting Border Patrol Agent In Arizona

A Mexican teenager was sentenced to 12 months in prison and three years of supervised release for assaulting a Border Patrol agent in Arizona, according to the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona

On October 26, 2024, a Border Patrol Agent discovered Elias Lunes-Gomez, 19, wearing camouflage clothing and hiding in a tree near Menagers Dam.

The agent approached Lunes-Gomez, who then elbowed him in the ribs. Both men then fellย three feet. According to authorities, Lunes-Gomez later put his knees on the agent’s back and struck him many times in the back of the head.

According to authorities, the agent sustained a sprained ankle, an elbow contusion, lacerations on his face and hands, and knee pain.

After a fight, the agent was able to arrest Lunes-Gomez.

Lunes-Gomez pled guilty on March 3 and received her sentence on July 8.
