Mascotte police apprehended Connecticut fugitive wanted in murder case

A fugitive wanted in Connecticut for conspiracy to commit homicide was apprehended during a traffic stop in Mascotte two weeks ago.

According to the Mascotte Police Department, patrol officers performed a traffic check on June 27 near South Bay Lake Avenue and Aquarius Street. The authorities initially stopped the driver for a traffic violation and requested identification from the passenger, 33-year-old Kevin Dias. He initially provided them a false Social Security number but later gaveย his true identity.

Dias, according to Lake County dispatch, has an active arrest warrant out of Connecticut for homicide (conspiracy to commit murder) in connection with a 2018 homicide in Waterbury, Connecticut. The officers arrested him without incident.

The Waterbury Police Department is still looking for two more suspects in the case: Santos Vasquez-Rivera and Carlos Alvarado.
