A man was detained Monday after police received a call that he assaulted and strangled an 11-year-old child on Circle Drive in Fairmont.
Damion McGinley, 50, of Fairmont, has been charged with strangulation, according to the Fairmont Police Department.
When police got on the scene, they spoke with both the victim and her mother. The mother claimed that McGinley had gotten into an incident with the victim and put the 11-year-old child in a “chokehold.”
According to the authorities, the victim had red markings on the sides of his neck and popped blood vessels in both eyes.
McGinley is currently in the North Central Regional Jail on a $20,000 bond.
