A 31-year-old man faces several felony charges after prosecutors say he grabbed at least three women on a CTA bus in the West Loop.
Wayne Carter allegedly boarded a bus near Madison and Canal on June 27 at 5:45 p.m. and approached a seated 31-year-old woman.
According to court documents, Carter grabbed the woman’s right breast over her clothing and attempted to grope her once again. Prosecutors say she raised her handbag to obstruct him.
Carter allegedly grabbed a second woman’s breast.
According to the charges, once police arrived, Carter sat next to a third woman and touched her as well. A fourth passenger reportedly intervened to prevent him from targeting more women.
Prosecutors have charged Carter with criminal sexual assault by force, aggravated battery of a transit rider, and aggravated battery in public.
Judge Rivanda Beal ordered Carter’s detention, calling him “a danger to women everywhere” and citing his “pervasive abusive conduct.”
