The Irvine Police Department reports that on June 26, patrol officers investigated a robbery at the Spectrum Target.
The suspect went to a cash register and accessed the cash drawer after manipulating the screen. The suspect then pushed an employee as he escaped.
IPD detectives investigated further and discovered that the suspect was possibly responsible for over 35 other Target thefts in Southern California.
On Tuesday, they nabbed the suspect at a Corona hotel. The suspect struggled and injured a detective during his detention.
Anthony Steven Machuca, 29, of Baldwin Park, was detained on suspicion of robbery and violence against a police officer.

Battery on a Police Officer (Penal Code § 243):
If the officer was hurt, the offense can be charged as a felony.
