A Houston, Texas, man was sentenced to ten years in federal prison after pleading guilty to the “jugging” robbery of an ATM technician in July 2024.

Sentenced to 120 months in federal prison

Johnny Juwan Clark, 33, a Houston resident, and three others were charged in a superseding indictment in December 2024 with conspiracy to interfere with commerce by robbery on July 3, 2024.

In April 2025, Clark pled guilty to felony interference with commerce by robbery. Clark was on supervised release following a federal prison sentence for a previous robbery conviction when he conducted this robbery.

Clark was sentenced to 96 months in federal prison for the current robbery conviction, as well as a consecutive sentence of 24 months’ incarceration as a revocation penalty in Clark’s previous robbery case, for a total of 120 months.

Dallas robberies

During his guilty plea hearing in April, Clark said that he drove from Houston to the Dallas metroplex in a rental automobile early on July 3, 2024, with the aim to commit robbery.

Clark acknowledged that after landing in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, he followed an ATM technician to many locations while he fixed ATMs in Irving, Grand Prairie, Arlington, and, eventually, Midlothian, Texas.

Clark admitted that on July 3, 2024, around 5:35 p.m., he approached an ATM technician who was servicing an ATM at a Chase Bank in Midlothian.

Clark disguised himself with a hoodie and a face covering as he approached the technician from behind and forced him down.

He maintained his hand to the back of the victim’s head while codefendants Corey Holloway and Roosevelt Valentine took canisters holding US dollars from the ATM.

Approximately $248,000 in US currency was seized during the heist.

During his court appearance, Clark admitted that he was the one who forced the technician to the ground.

Court filings show that following the heist, Clark and two of his codefendants fled Chase Bank in a rental car and met codefendant Tierra Brandyberg at an apartment complex near the bank.

The stolen money was loaded into a Range Rover and returned to Houston.

Houston criminal organization

After arriving in Houston, Clark and Brandyberg spent some of the stolen money on an S-Class Mercedes-Benz and jewelry.

Corey Dashun Holloway, Tierra Toneisha Brandyberg, and Roosevelt Ford Valentine, all from Houston, Texas, were also charged in the December 2024 superseding indictment.

Clark, Brandyberg, Holloway, and Valentine have been tied to a Houston-based criminal group known as the “Hiram Clarke Money Team.”

Hiram Clarke Money Team members are reported to often go outside of Houston to commit “jugging” robberies and other sorts of thievery.

  • The codefendant, Tierra Toneisha Brandyberg, entered a guilty plea on July 8, 2025, and is awaiting sentencing.
  • Cory Holloway has filed documents advising the court of his intention to plead guilty and is set for re-arraignment in August 2025.
  • The codefendant, Roosevelt Valentine, is set for jury trial in September 2025.

The FBI’s Dallas Division investigated the case.

Rick Calvert, an assistant US attorney, is prosecuting the case.
