Never a dull moment in the Sunshine State. Most recently, police in Monroe County, Florida, arrested a man for road rage after he brandished a gun while driving on a popular highway. Now, the man faces significant consequences for his outburst.
MCSO police officers apprehended a 40-year-old Florida man for some good old-fashioned road rage and ‘displaying a handgun’
Many people hold Sunday mornings sacrosanct. It might be a time for religious worship or simply a chance to contemplate and unwind before the crushing reality of Monday. Alternatively, it could also be a suitable time to drive along US Highway 1 with a gun in hand, as demonstrated by this Florida man.
Before 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office received complaints of a driver, later identified as Stefano Napolitano, engaging in road rage. Scary? Yes. But that is hardly unheard of. But things worsened from there.
According to an MCSO statement, the “adult male victim reported [that] the suspect, identified as Napolitano, displayed a gun during a road rage incident.” Police quickly apprehended Napolitano following that.
Police apprehended Napolitano, who admitted to waving the gun during the road rage incident. Remember to stay cool on the road, guys. Napolitano didnot stay cool, and as a result, he is now facing severe consequences.
Napolitano is in some serious hot water for the momentary lapse in judgment
According to the MCSO, Napolitano has been charged with aggravated assault. Although no one was injured, the Florida guy threatened another motorist with a lethal weapon, which the police took very seriously.
In Florida, aggravated assault is classified as a third-degree felony. That’s quite serious. For starters, a first-time offender could face up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine, according to Hussein & Webber Law.
In addition to the immediate repercussions, a conviction will make the perpetrator a felon. This includes the possibility of losing voting rights, the opportunity to run for public office, the right to carry a firearm, and other privileges.
