Beverly Yvonne Slaughter, a 25-year-old Florida influencer, is accused of crashing her car into a vehicle carrying four individuals. One person was killed, while three others were injured. Slaughter allegedly left the scene on foot, saying that “her boyfriend told her to run away.”
According to a probable cause document obtained by Law & Crime, the incident took place at 1 a.m. on April 29. Slaughter was accused of speeding in her black 2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class near the intersection of West Sunrise Boulevard and NW 24th Avenue in Fort Lauderdale.
The victims’ car, a blue 2021 Nissan Altima, reaches the intersection at the same time as Slaughter. Authorities found video security footage from a neighboring McDonald’s, reportedly showing the front of Slaughter’s vehicle hitting the right side of the Nissan.
After both vehicles came to a stop, Slaughter allegedly exited her Mercedes-Benz through the driver’s door and fled the scene on foot.
The woman was then pursued by a Fort Lauderdale Police Department officer, the affidavit states. She was later spotted “walking extremely discreetly” between a “bushy fence line” and a concrete wall in the McDonald’s parking lot.
After the authorities found Slaughter, she allegedly informed them that “her boyfriend told her to run away.”
Fatal Victim
Slaughter and the four victims were sent to Broward Health Medical Center. One of the victims, named as Armani Kimble by NBC Miami, was taken off life support on May 2.
Prosecutors submitted a bond motion revealing that Slaughter’s license was suspended at the time the event occurred. Furthermore, her license has been suspended since 2021. Furthermore, records suggest that Slaughter was previously convicted of numerous counts. These include driving without a license, driving with a suspended license, and receiving a DUI.
According to NBC Miami, Judge Ernest Kollra ordered Beverly Yvonne Slaughter’s pre-trial imprisonment. She faces 14 accusations, including vehicular murder, fleeing the scene of a fatal accident, and driving with a suspended license, among others.
Armani Kimble’s aunt spoke in court on Friday, August 1, about the family’s ordeal following the incident.
“We’re definitely devastated by this reckless behavior of Mrs. Slaughter,” Arlene Monica Jackson Moore said. “Armani was only 23 years old. She had dreams and plans and a heart that gave endlessly.”
