An Eastern Iowa woman was detained for driving on Highway 18 with a missing car tire.

At 12:20 a.m. Wednesday, officers were dispatched to the 14000 block of Highway 18 for a complaint of a personal injury accident.

An inquiry indicated that a driver was driving westbound on Highway 18 when one of the tires burst and came off the vehicle. The driver continued westbound on the car’s rim until it came to a stop in the 14000 block of Highway 18.

Police stopped the motorist, 23-year-old Tiffany Kelly of Dundee, and saw she was intoxicated. Police also discovered many alcoholic beverage containers in the car.

Kelly was brought to a neighboring hospital with minor injuries.

She faces charges of operating while intoxicated (OWI), interfering with official activities, and driving without insurance.

The car had many feet of wire fencing wrapped around it, indicating that it had passed through someone’s fence before coming to a halt. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office is requesting anyone with a damaged fence to contact them at (563) 422-6067.
