An operation into a fentanyl trafficking conspiracy across the United States, including D.C., Virginia, and Maryland, resulted in 24 arrests. On Friday, one of the individuals involved received his sentence.
Ronte Green, 29, of D.C., was sentenced to nine years in jail for his role in the distribution of hundreds or thousands of fatal fentanyl-laced pills. The tablets originated in California before being circulated across the country. In 2023, 24 conspirators were arrested.
According to court documents mentioned in the announcement, Greene, also known as “Cardiddy,” joined the conspiracy in 2022 after being introduced to a Los Angeles-based narcotics trafficker.
The dealer was a wholesale distributor of counterfeit medications. Greene would drive to California to get the drugs and then sell them around the DMV.
His social media posts included photographs of him carrying bundles of cash.
On November 15, 2023, authorities caught Greene in possession of approximately 100 fentanyl-laced pills.
On February 27, he pled guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possession with the intent to distribute 40 grams of fentanyl. He will serve an additional five years of supervised release after his sentence.
