California Man Sentenced To 14 Years In Prison For Trafficking Meth To Central Oregon

A Lynwood, California, man was sentenced to 14 years in prison on Monday for trafficking 11 pounds of methamphetamine from California to Oregon, which included a Prineville customer.

Luis Banuelos, 34, was sentenced to 168 months in federal prison and five years of supervised release.

According to court documents, Banuelos was detained on February 28, 2021, as part of a narcotics trafficking investigation by police from the Central Oregon Narcotics Enforcement (CODE) team after transporting methamphetamine from California to Prineville for delivery to a customer.

Officers searched Banuelos’ vehicle and discovered two boxes containing over 11 pounds of methamphetamine. When questioned by investigators, Banuelos admitted to carrying drugs from California approximately seven times for distribution in Oregon.

On August 4, 2022, Banuelos was charged with possessing methamphetamine with the intent to distribute. Banuelos entered a guilty plea to the charge on October 31, 2022.

The matter was probed by the CODE team and the Drug Enforcement Administration. It was prosecuted by Adam Delph, Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Oregon.
