A 31-year-old former behavioral health technician at Phoenix Children’s Hospital was apprehended and charged with nine counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, according to court documents released last week.

Authorities allege that Jaydeep Patel was in possession of various files containing child sexual abuse material (CSAM), which were discovered in late 2024 after a tip from his internet provider. Investigators claim nine “cybertips” were generated, prompting a search of Patel’s home and electronic devices. The investigation apparently turned up over 1,200 images and videos depicting minors.

On July 17, 2025, Patel was brought into jail at his Phoenix home. Court documents also allege that he utilized various online identities to request and retain sexual content involving minors. Some messages in the records mention him admitting to inappropriate interests.

Phoenix Children’s Hospital verified Patel no longer worked there and indicated that he passed regular background checks when hired. The hospital also stated that it completely cooperates with law enforcement. Patel worked at the hospital as a behavioral health technician, but investigators believe he portrayed himself as a security officer in several online exchanges.

Patel is facing nine felony charges and remains in detention while legal proceedings are ongoing. Authorities have not stated that any of the alleged violations involved patients or occurred on hospital grounds.

The case is still under investigation.
