Three men have been arrested and charged with the shooting death of a Marshall man on Easter morning in Jackson.

Bryan Michael Johnson, 35; Jemel Earl Milton, 40; and Phillip Leslie Gauze were all charged with first-degree murder and unarmed robbery in Jackson County on July 16.

According to Jackson Police Chief Christopher Simpson, his family called police for a welfare check, and officers discovered 45-year-old John Lusch at a Jackson house in the 900 block of Orchard Place.

According to the inquiry, Lusch arrived at the home early on Sunday morning and was confronted by many persons. Lusch was shot several times and died from his injuries on the scene.

On July 25, Jackson County District Judge Allison Bates will hold a probable cause conference hearing for the three men. All three are being held at the county jail without bond.

All three males had criminal histories prior to the shooting.

Johnson had already served probation for methamphetamine and obstruction convictions in Jackson County.

Milton served 15 years in jail after pleading guilty to arson outside of Oakland County. He was released in 2023.

Gauze was previously convicted of operating a meth lab in 2017 and again in 2018, and he is currently awaiting trial in two other felony cases, one for more meth lab charges and the other for fraud.

If convicted, the three men will face a mandatory life sentence without the chance of parole.
