2 People In Cook County Face Felony Gun Charges After A Traffic Stop, Sheriff Says

According to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office, two people face felony gun charges following a traffic check that resulted in the discovery of drugs, alcohol, and firearms.

Keith Scott, 27, and Shewnsey Gill, 37, were arrested when deputies pulled them over and discovered an open container of alcohol and cannabis in the vehicle, according to authorities.

Deputies instructed Scott and Gill to exit the vehicle and performed a search. The sheriff’s office reported that they discovered two open liquor bottles, 61.7 grams of suspected cannabis, 54.8 grams of suspected psilocybin mushrooms, and two guns.

Scott and Gill did not have a valid concealed carry license, and Scott did not have a Firearm Owner’s Identification card.

Gill possessed a valid FOID card, but she did not have it with her at the time, and she failed to store her firearm properly in line with state law, officials said.

Both received felony firearms charges. There have been no further details revealed.
