Two state troopers in Pennsylvania were shot in northeastern Susquehanna County.
The shooting happened on Route 171, according to WTXF.
At an event in Bucks County, Gov. Josh Shapiro stated, “It is an active situation, and at the conclusion of this event, I plan to head there myself.”
The state Department of Transportation said a portion of Route 171, between Susquehanna and Thompson, where the shooting occurred, is closed, and the public is advised to avoid the area, WOLF reported.
The Scranton Times-Tribune reported that U.S. Rep. Rob Bresnahan announced on social media that both troopers were in stable condition.
There has been no official word on their status, other than that they have been taken to a hospital, according to WNEP and WGAL.
According to a statement from state police, the PSP is investigating after two troopers were shot today while responding to a complaint in northeastern Susquehanna County. The troopers were both taken to local hospitals. An update on their status will be provided later.
