Two men have been arraigned on felony shooting charges after a toddler was injured during a domestic incident in Erie County.
Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane has announced the arraignment of two people in connection with the shooting of a 2-year-old child on Sunday, July 20, 2025, inside a home on Lackawanna Avenue in the Village of Sloan.
Shannon Rose, 19, of Cheektowaga, was arraigned before Cheektowaga Town Justice John Wanat on charges of second-degree assault, a Class “D” violent felony, and criminal possession of a firearm, a Class “E” felony. He is being held without bond and is set to appear in court for a felony hearing on Friday, July 25, at 9:30 a.m. If convicted of the highest count, Rose may face up to seven years in jail.
Marcus Oluwa, 20, of no fixed address, appeared before Buffalo City Court Judge John Feroleto on one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree (Class “C” severe felony) and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree (Class “D” felony). The bail was set at $50,000, and he is also scheduled to appear on July 25 at 9:30 a.m. If convicted on the most serious accusation, Oluwa could face up to 15 years in jail.
According to officials, the toddler was hurt after a firearm was recklessly discharged during a domestic dispute involving adults within the home. The child’s present state has not been made public.
District Attorney Keane praised the Cheektowaga Police Department, Buffalo Police Department, and New York State Police for conducting an efficient and collaborative investigation into the incident.
Assistant District Attorneys Timothy Garvin and Frank Strano of the Major Crimes Bureau are prosecuting the charges.
As in all criminal matters, both defendants are deemed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
