A grand jury has formally indicted two men for stealing more than $140,000 in merchandise from Walmart shops in Arizona, according to officials.
Alexander Moreno Dantzler and Christopher Campos-Henry are charged with 70 counts of organized retail theft and other felonies for their involvement in a property trafficking operation, the Arizona Attorney General’s Office reported Wednesday.
Prosecutors claim that the accused organized retail theft operation targeted Walmart stores in Pima, Maricopa, Pinal, Cochise, Graham, Mohave, and Yavapai counties.
How did investigators identify Arizona suspects in widespread Walmart theft?
Moreno Dantzler and Campos-Henrey were indicted after two investigations by the state’s attorney general’s office, which collaborated with other departments:
- Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
- Oro Valley Police Department.
- Arizona Department of Public Safety.
- Sahuarita Police Department.
Earlier this year, Mayes joined a bipartisan group of leaders from 38 states to push Congress to take action against organized retail theft.
“Organized retail crime isn’t just about stolen merchandise,” Attorney General Kris Mayes said at the time. “It’s about criminal networks exploiting communities, threatening workers and driving up costs for families.”
