A luxury car theft and fraud ring operating in central Pennsylvania used stolen vehicles from Florida to carry out a $1 million title-washing scheme, according to the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General.

Following a statewide grand jury investigation, thirteen people are now facing criminal charges, including the suspected ringleader and many family members.

According to authorities, Anthony E. Troncoso, 44, oversaw the operation and is facing various offenses, including corrupt organizations, washing vehicle titles, and theft by deceit.

Authorities in Florida seized over two dozen high-end vehicles, including Porsches, Audis, and Land Rovers. Officials claim that the organization utilized forged paperwork to clean the vehicle titles, allowing them to be sold to unsuspecting customers through private sales, auctions, and dealerships.

Title-washing was found in tag agencies and notaries in Berks, Dauphin, and Lehigh counties, as well as PennDOT’s Dauphin County headquarters. According to reports, the fake paperwork contained false ownership, registration, and insurance information.

While some offenders have been apprehended or agreed to surrender, others are still at large or awaiting extradition from other countries. Authorities have charged Troncoso’s son, girlfriend, and several associates from Pennsylvania, Florida, and Mexico.

Pennsylvania State Police, county detectives, and law enforcement agencies in New York and Florida all contributed to the collaborative investigation, according to authorities.
