Mississippi Man Died On The Louisiana Interstate After A Collision Involving An 18-wheeler

A 26-year-old Mississippi man died early Thursday in a two-vehicle crash on a Louisiana interstate.

The Louisiana Highway Patrol reported that Charles Moore, a 26-year-old man from Meridian, died in a crash on Interstate 20 just west of Louisiana Highway 557 shortly before 5 a.m. on Thursday.

According to officials, Moore was driving a 2024 International truck west on Interstate 20 when he collided with the rear of a 2017 Freightliner 18-wheeler stopped on the highway’s right westbound shoulder.

Following the initial impact, the International veered off to the right side of the road and collided with a tree. Moore died on the scene of the accident after suffering catastrophic injuries. According to officials, Moore was properly secured in the car.

Regular toxicological samples have been collected and will be examined, even though no impairment is suspected.

The crash is still under investigation.
