A combined effort between the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) resulted in the arrest of a violent fugitive in Orlando last week. There’s also a locked door.

Deh Yami Wray, a man wanted in both South Carolina and North Carolina on many serious offenses, including kidnapping and assault with a pistol, was arrested following a brief and dramatically failed escape attempt.

SLED tracked Wray, who was deemed armed and dangerous with a history of threatening law enforcement, to an Orlando hotel.

FDLE Task Force agents, following on a tip, discovered Wray in the hotel lobby. Upon the agents’ approach, Wray desperately attempted to flee. Instead of finding an exit, he ran headfirst into a locked door, shocking himself and giving agents the perfect opportunity to arrest him.

Wray is currently in custody and is awaiting extradition to face the multiple charges against him.
