New York State Police are asking for help identifying a man accused of stealing cash from a Walmart self-checkout.

According to police, it happened about 3:40 p.m. on July 31st inside the Walmart Super Center on Route 11 in LeRay.

Police said a customer left cash at a self-checkout register. When the customer returned to retrieve it, the money was no longer present.

Surveillance footage shows the individual in the photo subsequently grabbing the unattended cash and exiting the establishment.

NYSP encourages anybody who recognizes the person in the photo to call State Police at (315) 366-6000 and mention case NY2500682200.

This is not the first time someone has been accused of skimming cash at the self-checkout at the Walmart in LeRay. 7News reported on a previous occurrence in August 2024, when New York State Police appealed for assistance in locating a man accused of swiping $60 that was left behind.
