You should scream for ice cream, not at the driver of the ice cream truck! After admitting to murdering a Chevrolet Camaro driver, an Indianapolis ice cream man is now serving jail time rather than delicious sweets.

Indianapolis ice cream truck driver murders Camaro driver

A jury found 43-year-old Darius Butts guilty of murder in a case that stems back to 2022. He shot a man in the 9900 block of East 38th Street, near North Mitthefer Road.

Police discovered Desmond Banks, 32, lying on the ground next to his Chevrolet Camaro. He was shot several times, and medics pronounced him dead on the scene. We send our sympathies to his family and friends.

Detectives investigated the incident by reviewing security footage. Butts was caught driving an ice cream truck through the parking lot of a gas station. He was attempting to go around the Chevrolet Camaro.

According to WTHR, Butts struck the Camaro, disembarked his truck to evaluate the damage, and then attempted to flee the scene. Then Banks dashed out to prevent him from leaving.

As Banks motioned for Butts to halt, Butts produced a gun. He shot Banks multiple times before driving away. The gun was later discovered in Butts’ truck. He admitted to conducting the act and stated that he had been caught on camera.

Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears stated that the victim clearly wanted to have a constructive talk about a typical mishap in everyday life.

However, upset by the catastrophe he caused, the defendant chose to shoot the victim, cruelly terminating Mr. Bank’s life and damaging his own.
