Royal Farms Robbery Suspect Arrested Minutes After Early Morning Heist

A man accused of robbing a Royal Farms convenience store before sunrise on Sunday was apprehended shortly after fleeing the scene, according to Middletown police.

Richard Polk, 31, of Darby, Pennsylvania, allegedly entered the Royal Farms on Middletown Warwick Road around 4:40 a.m., assaulted a clerk, and stole cash. Witnesses informed police, who found Polk nearby and detained him without resistance.

Middletown Police charged Polk with second-degree robbery, using a disguise to commit a felony, and making a false statement to law officials. He was also charged with unrelated offenses such as third-degree unlawful sexual contact and offensive touching by Delaware State Police.

Polk is being held at Howard R. Young Correctional Institution with a $13,100 secured bond.
