A man will serve years in jail for his role in a fatal 2024 road rage crash in Tallmadge Township.
Ethan Oosterhouse was sentenced to 100 months to 15 years in prison on Monday for the crash that killed Grand Rapids resident Sha-Tera Coleman, 27, according to court documents acquired by News Channel 3.
He was given 347 days credit for time served, and his driver’s license was revoked for life, according to papers.
In a “road rage incident,” Oosterhouse of Middleville and Denis Perez of Grand Rapids collided while traveling east on Lake Michigan Drive.
According to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, the crash caused Perez’ Dodge Charger to cross the median at Trillium Drive and collide with Coleman’s Pontiac.
Perez was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, while Oosterhouse was treated for minor injuries.
Both were subsequently charged with second-degree murder, manslaughter, and reckless driving resulting in death, according to authorities.
According to court documents obtained by News Channel 3, Oosterhouse pleaded no contest to a charge of vehicular manslaughter in May.
His allegations of second-degree murder and reckless driving resulting in death, however, were dismissed, according to papers.
In contrast, the case against Perez is still pending.
Perez pled guilty in October to a charge of reckless driving resulting in death (adult only), according to papers. His allegations of second-degree murder and vehicular manslaughter were dismissed.
Perez is due to be sentenced in Ottawa County in mid-August, according to court documents.
