Four people are in custody on multiple charges, according to the West Tennessee Violent Crime and Drug Task Force.
On July 23, the criminal interdiction unit patrolled I-40 in Haywood County and discovered two vehicles following too closely.
After stopping the rear vehicle, the authorities conducted a search.
The rental car allegedly included two loaded weapons, 254 pounds of lean (also known as promethazine), 100 opioid pills, and three pounds of marijuana.
Kelveon Alexander, 23; Mikkel Lang, 23; Richelle Miller, 26; and Jaylynd Parker, 32, were arrested and charged with the following:
- Possession of Schedule VI with intent
- 2 counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony
- Possession of a legend drug without a prescription.
The press statement states that all four people are from Texas.
The investigators discovered that the lean had been stolen from a pharmaceutical supply company in Houston.
Agents from the Haywood County Sheriff’s Office and Houston Investigators will continue the investigation, as additional charges are anticipated to come.
