Father And Son Each Sentenced In Prison For Distributing Meth In Iowa

A father-son duo was sentenced to federal prison for conspiring to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine. According to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa, the two men involved are Ronald Dickey Mason, 75, and Ronald Kieth Mason, 43, both of Keokuk. Court filings state that they conspired to sell substantial amounts of meth across eastern Iowa, including Riverside, Cedar Rapids, Burlington, and Keokuk, as well as Des Moines.

Last summer, Ronald Dickey Mason’s vehicle contained 28 pounds of methamphetamine in the trunk, as well as a revolver in the console. Earlier this year, the couple pleaded guilty to drug charges. In March, a jury convicted Ronald Dickey Mason of carrying a handgun while committing a drug trafficking offense.

On Tuesday, Ronald Dickey Mason was sentenced to 22 years in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release. The younger Mason was sentenced in June to 20 years in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.
