A Clermont County woman is in jail after being charged with a distressing animal abuse case.

Victoria Shoopman, 61, appeared in court Tuesday morning on accusations of animal cruelty.

According to investigators, Shoopman neglected to provide sufficient care and supervision to the dog named Apollo for an extended length of time. As a result, the dog slowly starved to death.

Court documents also state that she confined the dog and failed to register him for years.

Shoopman’s bond was set at $50,000.

Furthermore, Shoopman may not own or care for any animals if he posts bail. The dog warden is free to seize any other animals in her home.
