A Milwaukee County judge sentenced Iesha Frazier-Christie in June to two and a half years on probation for thefts from Wisconsin’s FoodShare benefits program.

Frazier-Christie was initially charged with four counts. In June, she pled guilty to two counts of misconduct in office and theft. The remaining two counts were dismissed and read into the court record for sentencing.

Case details

Wisconsin’s FoodShare program is intended to stop hunger by providing assistance to those who do not have much money or have limited earnings.

In October 2022, a client called the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS). He and his wife attempted to purchase food but were unsuccessful. According to court records, detectives immediately discovered where the money went and who received it.

Prosecutors assert that Iesha Frazier-Christie worked at the Marcia P. Coggs Human Services Building on September 28, 2022. She has been with the Wisconsin Department of Human Services since March of that year, where she manages cases for public assistance programs such as FoodShare.

According to DHS documents, an employee accessed the couple’s account. The next day, I called Quest Card customer support and changed my PIN. Frazier-Christie’s own public assistance account was the source of the call.

Records reveal that purchases began right away. Walmart received hundreds of dollars’ worth of items. Some were collected from the business on East Capitol Drive.

Investigators said that in only a few hours that day, there were 16 fraudulent purchases totaling more than $7,200, as well as more than $350 through Amazon. Even with more than $900 in returned transactions, prosecutors claim Frazier-Christie and uncharged co-conspirators took more than $6,600 from the couple.
