A man will serve the rest of his life in jail after being sentenced for the 2022 shooting death of his ex-girlfriend’s 9-year-old daughter.

Jeremiah Jones was convicted of shooting and killing his ex-girlfriend’s daughter, Khylie, on June 13, 2022, in their home. He was 22 years old at the time. On Friday, he received a life sentence without the possibility of release.

Prosecutors said Jones was unhappy because his fiancée had broken up with him two months prior, and he had even threatened to kill her the week before.

During the trial, prosecutors claimed that Jones’ murder was premeditated since the automobile Jones was driving had a GPS that detectives could monitor, and he drove to his ex-girlfriend’s home, which they shared.

Jones said he was on a date or with another woman when the shooting happened, so the prosecution brought this up.
