Jose Melgar-Rivas, a Honduran national and ICE fugitive, was charged with assault and obstructing or impeding a federal officer after his automobile was stopped by ICE officers on Tuesday.

During the traffic stop, the driver allegedly attempted to flee, and the officer was in the vehicle’s door, pulling him approximately 230 feet. Melgar-Rivas fled the scene and was apprehended many hours afterward.

Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons told FOXNEWS about the incident, adding, “He pulled our officer several hundred feet, causing several injuries. Fortunately, he’ll be okay.”
