US Customs and Border Protection officers seized more than $500,000 in heroin hidden inside tortilla presses and candy dispensers at the Texas-Mexico border, according to a news release.
The seizure took place on July 9 at the Camino Real International Bridge while inspecting a Dodge pickup truck.
The report added that the utilization of inspection equipment and a K-9 unit resulted in the identification of six heroin shipments weighing a total of 26.96 pounds.
Border officials asserted that they hid the heroin, estimated to have a street value of $517,072, within tortilla presses and candy dispensers.
According to the announcement, Drug Enforcement Administration officials arrested both the pickup truck’s driver and passenger.
