A Rhode Island man is facing serious charges for allegedly threatening to kill President Donald Trump and many members of his administration on Truth Social.

Carl D. Montague, 37, has been charged by the Department of Justice (DOJ) with threats against the president, interstate threats, and threats to assault and kidnap or murder a United States official, judge, or law enforcement officer.

Montague is accused of writing a profanity-laced post on Truth Social on June 27, 2025, threatening to shoot and kill Trump, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller.

The FBI wrote in a criminal complaint filed against Montague that Trump Media and Technology, the parent company of Truth Social, notified it of the post at 11:30 p.m. on June 27.

The post read, “Itโ€™s a shame you wonโ€™t get to see the end of our f- – – – -g term, because Iโ€™m gonna make sure I put a bulletโ€ฆbetween your f- – – – -g head you piece of s- -t, you Pam Bondi. Stephen f- – – – -g miller, all you b- – – – -s are gonna get a f- – – – -g bullet to the head every single f- – – – -g one of you.”

After receiving the information, the FBI launched an investigation that led officers to Montague.

When authorities approached Montague at his Rhode Island home, he allegedly confessed he had made the post.

According to the criminal complaint, Montague posted the threat while high on marijuana. He also allegedly claimed to have deleted the Truth Social account after sending the message.

According to reports, Montague has voiced his displeasure with the current political atmosphere on Truth Social.

According to the lawsuit, Montague stated that he had no specific motive to target his threat at either Miller or Bondi and that he was unable to identify Bondi.

Montague eventually expressed contrition for his comments, the complaint noted.

The FBI stated in the complaint that Montague does not own or have access to weapons, nor does he have plans, intents, or the means to commit such violence.

Nonetheless, the FBI found probable cause to prosecute Montague for threatening to harm the president and members of his administration.

The inquiry into this problem is ongoing.
