Police discovered a body near the Aransas Pass city transfer station recently, and investigators believe it may connect to a local missing person case.
Officers from the Aransas Pass Police Department, working alongside a Texas Department of Public Safety Texas Ranger and a search team with tracking K-9 dogs, found a deceased person in dense brush south of the city’s transfer station on Monday.
The body has been sent to the Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office, though the medical examiner hasn’t completed the final identification yet. Police say the investigation is still in its early phases.
The search team was conducting operations in the area as part of an investigation into a woman who disappeared in late May, and the body they found might be connected to that case. The investigation continues.
“This is an ongoing investigation and no further information will be released at this time to maintain the investigation’s integrity,” Aransas Pass Police Chief David Perkins said in a news release.
