A woman’s body was discovered in the middle of an Edmond road early Saturday, sparking a police investigation.
The area around East 15th Street and Timberlake Avenue by Arcadia Lake is relatively peaceful. Only the sounds of passing cars filled the air at times, but that changed early Saturday morning.
“My wife came out, I was still in bed and she said, ‘you got to come out here, something’s going on,’” nearby neighbor Jeff Stone said.
According to Stone, it was approximately 3:15 a.m.
“There were cop cars, basically, from this entrance down to the other entrance there,” Stone said.
A little cross with flowers currently rests off the side of the road in the location. It is a symbol of the scene where a woman’s body was discovered in the middle of the road over the weekend. Elsy Maria Delgado Gonzalez, 28, has been identified as the victim by Edmond police.
“We saw two gray trucks on that side parked by that pole,” Stone said.
According to police, one of their officers discovered her while pulling over to assist some stranded motorists on Saturday. When they drew closer, they discovered the body. The department provided another update Monday afternoon.
Stone and his family are used to hearing cars driving by, especially since they frequent the lake. Saturday marked a break in that noise, and it was not a good one, with Stone claiming that such incidents do not occur there.
“Deer get hit all the time, but nothing like this,” Stone said.
According to investigators, Delgado fell from a moving vehicle, and the driver fled the scene with two other occupants. Three persons have since been hauled into custody.
Omar Alexis Rodriguez Cruz, Fernanda Valenzuela Mora, and Faruk Jose Del Nostro Campos have been detained in connection with the incident.

- Omar Alexis Rodriguez Cruz is facing Failure to Stop for an Accident Resulting in Death and Obstruction (x2)
- Fernanda Valenzuela Mora is facing Accessory to a Felony
- Faruk Jose Del Nostro Campos is facing Accessory to a Felony
Edmond police stated they are still investigating the incident.
